![]() Concepts like pedestrian walkways and paths, mixed-use and multi-storey zoning options, and multimodal street design have never made it into a SimCity game, and while CS1 has some rudimentary support for pedestrian-focused travel (I assume from the Plazas expansion mostly, but I remember there being some options in the base game as well), the others have never been serious considerations. City planning sims still feel like they're fundamentally built on the model of single-use zoning and cars as the primary mode of transportation, which doesn't reflect the way a lot of cities work around the world and even fails to recognize the diversity of modes and densities in North American cities. Way back in the day of SimCity 4, I remember reading Simtropolis threads wishing that the next SimCity would adopt any of the innovations and trends in city planning since the dawn of the car-based suburb. ![]() ![]() Thinking about it a little, there's one big thing I would like to see CS2 get into, and it's a wishlist item from a long time ago.
